Day 11: Strong Man

"For there's no one as burly and brawny.
As you see I've got biceps to spare.
Not a bit of him's scraggly or scrawny.
That's right! And ev'ry last inch of me's covered with hair."
Gaston, Disney's Beauty and the Beast

Last year a guy friend of mine told me the best trick to catch a man. He said,"All you have to do is tell a guy he's strong. Guys totally go for that." Really? Could it be that simple? Well, at the time I totally liked this same friend, so what better way to try it out then on him. So I did. Every time we talked I subtly slipped it in when I could. I'm pretty sure he didn't notice I was using his own trick against him. Did it work, you ask? It did! We dated, and dated, and dated. And then I forgot to keep telling him he was strong...and we stopped dating. Maybe that was our ultimate downfall.

So, I decided to put that trick back into practice. I helped a friend move tonight and I thought it was a perfect opportunity to bring it back. So I tried. My problem was, it wasn't coming out naturally. The timing was all off. Each time I tried saying it out loud, it came out more like that little kid on Disney's Hercules. "Jeepers Mister, you're strong!" Not the sexiest way to compliment a guy.

The only guy that seemed to be flattered was this friend of mine that was probably the weakest guy there, who I said it to in passing as a sarcastic comment...I think I figured out that the trick works best on guys that maybe aren't that strong anyway.
